Insane. Some days I love traditional and classic, other days I am drawn towards mid-century modern, and then on Tuesdays I always love neon lacquer. With some chevron. And leopard. And velvet.

1} I have no intention at stopping at just 3 babies once this little button arrives

2} I am adamant about taking Vitamin D every day

3} I am a song lyric genius and remember every word to pretty much every song I've ever heard. Oh yeah.

Pregnancy makes me pancake crazy and I end up veering off of Paleo more Saturday mornings than I should!

I actually love our yard the most! If I HAVE to pick one inside, I'd choose the kitchen. 

WHEN I GROW UP I WANNA BE A?

I would be a Master Herbalist and Doctor of Naturopathy on Mondays and Tuesdays, a painter and photographer on Wednesdays and Thursdays, a professional skateboarder on Fridays, a midwife on Saturdays and a world class chef on Sundays.

Pillows in Action

Katie here, pleasure to meet you all!

So for weeks now I have been admiring all the pillows at The Shoppe! Literally watering at the mouth every time I look at them, neatly folded behind the glass doors of my office bookshelves. I have been holding myself back…. attempting to not even try one on for size, because I knew I would love them all. But then the other night, it happened – I could no longer hold back my urge to make my pillow dreams a reality. I was on pillow crack - smiling from ear to ear as I created pillow combo's that totally changed the vibe of my space.  

And you know what they say... 

"Better pillows make a better wife" - that's the pitch to my husband :) 

Will work for pillows!?! 

So here is what I came up with...

My dining nook:

 The colorful and textured mix totally funks up my otherwise traditional Windsor Smith fabric.  I am in love!

I couldn't stop there...I had to throw one on my couch as well...

What kinda (BLANK) are you?

Remember when I said that I was praying that my little G would be the best little girl ever and obey my wishes for her to leave her raging tantrums at home.

and 

Remember when I said I hoped that the dreaded jet lag would skip her sweet self and that she would fall right back into a dream sleep/awake ratio??

Well

 none of that happened.

She screamed and fidgeted and cried and flipped out the whole damn plane ride. The last 2 hours she finally fell asleep. And let me tell you, I have never wanted to cry so hard in my life!!!!!!

Tired doesn't begin to express how I am feeling. I am praying that my solo mommy and G (Sans Duck) journey on the way home will be less painful.

The whole experience has me craving a little mental escape

"New traditionals" head over heels in love with color, pattern and whimsy.

WHAT 3 THINGS CAN YOU NOT LIVE WITHOUT?

1.  iPhone (Anne) / Blackberry (Suysel) – 

We are attached from morning to night to our phones for emails, texts, web surfing, facebook, twitter, instagram, etc etc etc

2. Canada Dry Seltzer: we are seltzer fanatics. Our office fridge is always stocked.

3. Tape Measure – So boring, but the down and dirty truth as designers. You never know when you’ll stumble across a great find – and dimensions are always number one criteria!

WHAT ARE 3 THINGS PEOPLE DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU

- We do absolutely everything together when it comes to our business – from calls with magazine editors (“Hold on! Can we put you on speaker?”), our email address, and even the knitty gritty of our office, like taking out the trash.

- We daydream about opening a Tilton Fenwick west coast LA office someday. Bi-coastal sounds great in the dead of a NYC winter.

- We talk about our Dads daily and how we know that even though they’re not with us, they are both watching our business take shape in year two!

YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION

A pair of tessellated horn armchairs with black horsehair upholstered seats, Colombian circa 1970. Mario Buatta is also a fan (he told us so at the Hampton Showhouse and declared he’d reupholster the seats in floral chintz!)

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET

We both watched Downton Abbey on PBS over the Golden Globe awards this year. It felt so wrong but was oh so right.

YOUR FAVE ROOM IN YOUR HOME

Tough decision – we’re both in the process of moving, so the answer may change in the next few months, but there is a Guest Bedroom in Suysel’s home upstate (that was also featured in 2011 TradHome) with custom printed wallpaper of our beloved peacock logo – we’d have to both agree on that one, at least for today!

Our website says: “There’s nothing we’d rather be doing.” – it’s so true!

New Series Alert and Hasta La Pasta

We are heading out as we speak to the airport to fly off to Britain for the next 3 weeks.

Wish me luck and all that good stuff that my little G stays a princess, and leaves those raging 2 year old tantrums at home.

Pray that she sleeps on the plane, and that her jet lag isn't too bad.

Also please wish me work luck that Katie doesn't divorce me because of all the work related stresses I have left in her able hands... 

at least I know that if anyone can handle it, she's the gal.

Meet the Brains of the Operation!

So a while back I got an email from a gal looking to change up her career path and start focusing on her passion for interior design.

Now normally I would not have taken a chance, but something about this gal struck me and I was intrigued

She came over one day a few months back to meet me and have a little interview and I was impressed to say the least

She was willing to intern and learn everything from the ground up.

She quickly showed me that she is extremely talented

She is the hardest worker and fastest learner

She has amazing taste

She is a real firecracker and can win over even the most difficult of vendors with a little smile

She knew nothing about CAD and knew I needed a CAD person, so she decided to just go learn it.

A couple floor plans later and she can CAD it up like a frickin' PRO

She is CRAZY CUTE....and moonlights as a stylist, and professional organizer....yep 

BOTH things I suck at, both things she does NOT suck at!

Speaking of shit show....I woke up yesterday to a weird smell

walked in my bathroom

looked in my tub

SHIT SHOW

My toilets and sewer decided to back up into my tub.

5 inches of sewage was just chill in in my bath tub

Good news is, I will never ever  NEVER shower in that bathroom again..which means that I plan on starting the re-model of that bathroom immediatly

Bad news is that I don't have a spare second left in my life to add another project on my list.

I demand a 25th hour be added to each day!
