One room 2 Looks with:Nancy of Marcus Design

One of my Top 3 favorite DIY's on the blogo-shpere includes Nancy's Rast Hack/ Dorthy Draper chest seen here. She has a very pretty bloggy filled with all types of fun stuff to gander at. I am so happy she said she would get involved in my one room two ways series and that I could share her pretty transformations with you all.

The lovely and talented

Thank you Amber for inviting me over, I adore your blog and your personal style!! When Amber asked me to participate in her fabulous series, I have to admit I felt like I couldn't possibly compare to the fabulous designers she has recently had play along! So here is my measly attempt at rearranging this little vignette in my living room, I had a lot of fun doing it :)

Look #1:
Asymmetric & Colorful

This first look is fun and bright, perfect for spring and summer. I love the combo of turquoise and pink, and the asymmetry adds to the overall whimsy.

Look #2:
Balanced, Black & White

This second look is classic black and white with a pop of color through flowers. I created a symmetric feel by using two chairs and two lamps. And there is still a bit of whimsy brought in with the dotted pillows!

Hugs to you Amber for having me, I was pretty darn honored to be included!!

Love Ya Friend, Thanks for playin!

Turn around

So remember my post from yesterday when I showed you some of my new client in Sunny Santa Monica's pretty and traditional pad....Well let's talk about this shall we?? There is a little back story here.. If you follow my blog you can kinda get an idea about my style. I love color! I think a room without color is like cake without frosting. This being said you may have been SHOCKED to see such a calm and for lack of a better word, boring room palette for my lovely client............

You see, my completely cool and stylish client was sure she wanted a calm and cool color palette. She thought she wanted some grays and sands and maybe punches of blues and pinks. All mainly monochromatic and well....pretty BORING! So being the clients means to the end, I aimed to please and delivered, through grinding teeth, a calm as I know how to, design scheme. When I meet with my clients I always try to bring alternatives for fabric so that they can see other options. I showed her the rooms and samples and she was like"I think I want COLOR" She kept eyeing my "second option" bag filled to the brim with bright colors and funky wallpapers that I thought she would never go for. Well I busted out the secret stash and BAM, just like that, I changed her mind and brought her into my world of color and crazy!

I am back to the drawing board but with some fantastic colors to work with...and I couldn't be happier.
For example I might bring a little fuscia pink and wine......

like this cracker.....

Navy Velvet sofa...sure why not
and some of these throw pillows

some rug goodness

maybe this paper
all over the Master Bedroom
maybe some of this......

 and don't forget about this...

Ahhhhh, now this feels better.

Outfit turned Room: Luxe and Lillies

I am pleased to welcome the fabulous Keely of Luxe and Lillies. Keely is a graphic designer extrordinare, she has a knack for interior design, and she can throw a pretty party just to name a few of her endless skills. If your not quite as obsessed with this lovely lady as I am, please go and visit her and take a look at her "outfit to room" post! It's really, really pretty!!!

*****************

I am so happy to be here today sharing my outfit to room! I have loved this outfit for so long - to me, it hits all the right high notes, a bit of class [the blazer], and touch of glam [ the gold shirt] and a hint of girly elegance [ the pretty shorts]. Its always been pleasing to the eye and presents a lovely color palette!

*OUTFIT*

*ROOM*

When it comes to a room, I worked to put together the three elements I loved about the outfit. I love to mix textures and patterns too without having an overwhelming mix of colors. When it comes to classic - you can never go wrong with navy, wingback chairs, and nailhead trim. I have long adored Jonathan Adler's velvet sofa's. They are plush, and polished and look like the type of sofa you could lounge on all afternoon. The octopus throw is a little nautical, but ultimately comfortable and cozy.

As for glam, it doesn't get more glam than metallics. I'm a firm believer in the idea that tables don't have to be matchy-matchy - both of these tables speak to the color palette but add different flair. The ivory bone like finish on one table, lends itself to the golden capiz shell finish in the lamps! And- can we talk about this rug for a minute- shiny silk stitching. Its color and sheen changes with light, and livens up the floor!

As for girly- I chose a slightly pinker shade of nude than the outfit and this beautiful painting by Jen Ramos of Cocoa and Hearts, really pulls it all together. The soft pink and lambs wool pillows are soft and sweet.

Of course, don't forget a great little stocked bar cart- this vintage styled bar cart will polish off the room!

Thanks so much for having me Amber!

lamps: west elm, rug: rugsusa.com, chairs/pillows/small gold table: pieces atlanta, sofa: jonathan adler, painting: cocoa and hearts, taller side table: madegoods, throw: thomas paul on allmodern.com, bar cart: overstock.com

Thanks so much for playin Keely, This is STUNNING and I am so craving this look now. Make sure and go visit Keely's blog and tell her I said hi!

Hello dolls! This is Cara from Lilac and Grey, and I am so excited that Amber asked me to guest post for her "Outfit to Room" series! Right now in both fashion and interiors I am all about beautiful florals and watercolor prints- asian accents- blue suede- blush and nude tones-tassels and lace. I have grouped all of these loves into a girly Garden Party outfit..

Fabric World

I am on the hunt for fab fabs for my new client in Santa Monica. Yesterday I perused around the Pacific Design Center in Sunny Boiling Hell Style Heat West Hollywood and also made my rounds to a few of my favorite haunts. Here is a couple of sneaky peaks of my day yesterday...Oh and BTW I walked into the NOW famed Hollywood at Home store and no shit Kathryn M Ireland stormed in like a whiz collecting fabrics. I have seen her out in about in this here little town tons of times...this design community is a 6 degrees a separation type of place.... but it was just me, my design assistant extraordinaire, and K Ire. Cool. Kinda.

Spotted this little number from Raoul Textiles.

Then I came home after pillaging every fabric in the entire design center and laid it all out in my living room.

Stella the Cat made herself comfortable

I rolled around in it like Demi Moore did with money in Indecent Proposal, except I am less hot and this was fabric not 100 dollar bills...which was weird.
Then I realized it was about midnight and I needed to start pulling my serious collection of fabric porn together instead of just making piles by color and chaos.

Then I woke up this morning and am going to start all over again.... I LOVE MY JOB!!!!

You can hire me to get fabric and roll around in it.
