Blue Monday

Happy Monday lovers....It's been a blue kinda weekend for me. Not cause I am sad. Or because I have my giant 30th birthday coming up in 115 days...or because my little girl is going to be 2 or because Oprah is going off the air. No, No, No, none of these things are the cause for my blue Monday.

The fu***king color Blue is the damn cause of my blue Monday because it is driving me to insanity. I am seeing it everywhere, and I feel like If I don't upholster something in blue velvet I am going to have to scratch my skin off.
I unfortunately don't have much to re-upholster around these parts except my Bed headboard.... which, if you ask me is as good a candidate as any to make my new blue velvet moment. I am going to upholster and tuft the shit out of it and that's that. I will OWN it!

After seeing all these pictures how could I NOT?

The headborad I wanna re-upholster is actually one of Nate's Headboardzzz from HSN and they are actually not that crap. I got the plain white one....I shoulda bought the blue tufted velvet one instead... here

Some more greatness..nothing to do with Nate Berkus or Headboards..just other thing like benches and couches I could potentially upholster in Blue Velvet.

Missoni+Havianas=NEED

I must be crazy to hve such a long list of wants....I am in no position to be lusting after such things as leather clutches and Missoni Haviana Espadrilles, but I have a way about me....When I want something, I will obsess until I posses. That might just be the Gurl in me, I don't think I am alone with this type of thinking.

These bad boys are what I am obsessing over today...let me repeat OBSESSING!

Dear Santa Duck...please purchase these for me as a waaaaay early christmas pressie...

and because it's the end of the world today so it only seems fair I go out in style....right?

Oh Yeah also if you don't mind, can you add these to your cart before checking out...?

Speaking of Haviana, Did you know you can design your own???
How cool is this?

I fugured mine would need some evil eyes.

1. cause I need to ward evil away from my feet
and
2. cause they are corny, I am corny, however my feet are not corny

P.S. when did my interior design blog become about fashion.....I need Ritain

Hedging our bets

At first we thought we would build a fence at the front of our house, but something about it was niggling at my brain and it was feeling a bit to pickety for my liking. I have decided we are going to build a privacy hedge and create a fabulous secret garden cottage/chic Venice beach/modern vibe???

I can't find any great inspirational photos except these below which aren't really doin it for me..I know what I want in my head but I need to show the Duck...he's already on board I just want him to steer the wheel of this little project....do you catch my drift?  Pretty pictures always work.

One Room 2 Looks with: A La Mode

Ready to have your eyeballs explode from pretty overload....???

OK,  So I asked Shelli from a' la mode to play in my "one room 2 ways" series and this is what she gave me.....
SHELLI,  ARE YOU SERIOUS?.....It looks like something out of frikin Trad Home..!!

She is amazing and if you have not already checked out her bloggy you best get your butts on over and loose your self for a few. What an example of how a little bit of changes make all the difference in the world.

Here you go...your welcome:

Hi ya'll!  I was stoked when Amber asked me to participate in her "One Room Two Ways" series!  In fact, I was so excited, I guess I did it twice!  Her blog has been a daily read from the beginning for me, so I'm honored to be here!

My living room usually houses an array of blue and white pillows, as blue is my FAVORITE color.  I like a calm and serene atmosphere and feel to my home and blue always gets me there....everytime!

I buy everything on a budget and like to mix high and low end furniture, textiles and accessories.  All of my sources for this room look can be found here.

But....I have design ADD like to mix it up.
NEVER underestimate the power of pillows and accessories my friends!

So for a fresh spring feel to the living room, I added the two linen pillows from William Sonoma Home for a pop of orange. Another trick I use a lot is to change the lamp shade instead of the entire lamp.  Most of my lamps have a neutral base, so when you find fun shades (like these from HomeGoods), you get a new look for a smaller price tag than a new lamp!

The two side pillows were made from dwell studio placemats as well as the yellow linen bolster. If you can sew or know someone who can, this is an inexpensive way to have higher end fabrics for pillows!   I turned the coffee table around and added the white ceramic vase and candle from HomeGoods, and a hydrangea (my FAV!) from the grocery store.  The small glass sea urchin vases are also from Homegoods and are filled with inexpensive stems from the grocery store.

Well, that was easy, right?  Lets do it again!

Here is how my master bedroom normally looks.  Serene and calm with blue.  Are you seeing a color love theme here?

It helps having some consistency in color throughout my home, as it makes for easy pillow and textile swaps when you want to change up your look, but don't necessarily have the budget to buy brand new items.  All of my sources for this room look can be found here.

Sometimes sticking with neutrals and whites create just as calm of an environment.  Good for sleeping, right?  I bought this duvet and shams for $23.33 at Smart Bargains!  Crazy cheap!  I also bought a plain white euro sham off of ebay for $5 and mixed it right back in with the other 2 existing white shams.  The small lumbar pillows are cashmere, another great find from the potterybarn outlet (William Sonoma Home).

Sometimes even a subtle change will still create a new look!
Thank you for having me Amber!

Thanks for playin Shelli, your skills are impressive!

Back in Blog Biz!

Back from the desert and all though I have been gone it's been a busy time on the ol Bloggy. In case you haven't noticed there has been some changes over here at AID.  I got a blog re-model and I LOVE IT!

Let me first start off by saying something a little about this whole process before I met Jonalynn. It was a weird and headache inducing experience to say the least. I didn't have much luck at first and I felt like finding the right fit for a blog designer was damn near impossible. I quickly came to realize that a lot of "graphic designers" or "blog designers" have an ambiguous job title....they design the blog but then you have to go to another person to "Code" the whole thing for you. After it's all said and done its about a trillion dollars for a couple of phone calls and a "mock-up" and that's not including that you then have to go pay said"Coder" to install the whole thing for you?????

Anyways, fast forward to about 3 weeks or so ago and in cyber walks Jonalynn. I feel so absolutely blessed to have stumbled upon Jonalynn and her amazing blog Turn Up The Rad. I liked how bright and colorful her blog was and sent her an email asking her who her blog designer was???....It was HER, by herself, all designed up and coded! I begged for her assistance and she was more than happy to help me.  She is a super sweet, super talented, secret superstar that you all must know about. She is a graphic design genius AND she coded my whole blog with no hidden fees or forwarded emails to outside sources.. She is a one stop shop and was really a pleasure to work with. She listened to EVERYTHING I said and literally understood it with no problems whatsoever.

Please go visit her and let her know what you think of my blog re-design....I wanna hear what you all think of my new digs also. BTW she has a design shop as well!! go HERE to see.

Ta Tah!

So I am officially shutting it down for the weekend & Monday....Be back on Tuesday. The Duck and I are going to the Desert and I am not bringing my computer........am I going to die?

No Ipad. No LapTop. No Nothin! OK I am totally going to keel over and croak.

I am willing to sacrifice my addiction to all things Apple for a moment alone with my husband...who by the way HATES my computer most days.

I will leave you with a bit of pretty to gander upon as you patiently await my return. haha.

Oh and a BIG BTW,  I will be Guest posting over at Look Linger Love on Monday whilst Chassity is hangin with all the Bloggers at Blogfest 2011.

Miss you already!
