1 room 2 ways: Danielle Oakey Interiors!

I love a blogging Momma! Especially a Momma who has an awesome interior decorating biz with a super sense of style. If you haven't popped over to Danielle Oakey Interiors you better go head on over. There is tons of eye candy and her DIY projects are pretty great!
Without further adieu I welcome Danielle Oakey Interiors.....

I am actually in the process of re-designing my bedroom right now so this blog post could not have come at a better time. I am in the midst of doing an Ikea RAST hack for the nightstands. The white side tables you see in the first look are being sold. I love them but I am ready for a change.

First look:

I made the headboard ($76.00), yellow and blue pillows ($8.00 for both) and refinished the nightstand that I purchased from a thrift store. The round mirror is from a thrift store ($5.00), the lamp is from Home Goods ($29.99), The picture is from a thrift store ($3.00), and the mini aqua vase is from a thrift store ($2.00). The star burst mirror is from TJ Maxx on clearance for $12.00.

Second Look:

I made the headboard ($76.00), yellow pillows ($5.00) and the blue pillow is from ETSY ($20.00) The round mirror is from a thrift store ($5.00), the lamp is from Home Goods ($19.99) and I added the trim. The bird is from a thrift store ($.75) The star burst mirror is from TJ Maxx on clearance for $12.00.

I am in the process of finishing the nightstand. The pulls are in the mail so I just added these ones for the picture.

I haven't decided what my final look will be yet!
I am always changing everything.

Thanks Danielle, Can't wait to hear what every ones thoughts on there favorites are!

Camel Tassels

Hi Folks...I am desperately searching high and low to find Camel Tassels....yep, you heard me right. CAMEL TASSELS.This may sound like a strange request...unless you know me and then you are not surprised or shocked at the randomness.
After watching a recent episode of "An Idiot Abroad" when he took a trip to Egypt, I became infatuated with all the colors on the camels. Especially the particular one he rode across the Jordanian dessert to get to Petra. I could care less about the 7th wonder of the world or the great pyramids in Cairo....I wanted the CAMEL TASSELS.  I want to hang them from a chandelier or sew them on pillows or use them as tie backs for my living room curtains. Or put them on my cat so she can look prettier....

I will camel hump you if you can find me any of the following....

1} an expert in the field of camel riding
2} a professional camel tassel maker
3} a dessert dweller who herds camels across the sandy plains to entertain tourists?
or
4} a camel

Please forward me the pertinent information so that I may swindle myself some of these lovely adornments. Thank You kindly

Some blog love

One of my project images is over at Flourish Design & Style. It's the first image in case your wondering. I love it when I spot my projects on other peoples blogs...makes my day! I encourage you all to do the same...ahhemm ahemmm...I am just sayin.

shameless ball droppin.

DI-wise and Vanity

I have a Vanity area in my master which is really cute. It is original to the house and I am always trying to think of the perfect set-up for it...but I am often stumped. I recovered this little storage ottoman and bought a cute tray from HomeGoodies but It still needs some help. I think one day I will wallpaper it and change the mirror but for now this is what I got.  I think the current need to not feel like an ugly man most days might be the driving force behind the flowers and girly things everywhere. Here's a question, Am I alone in thinking that motherhood, a seemingly womanly thing, has left me feeling quite manly on most days. Talking about poop and dirt and various bodily functions...it's rarely glamorous. Anyways, here is the ottoman before.

I recovered it in the fabric I ordered back in this post

Then I took 2 door knockers and spray painted them gold and screwed them into the sides as an accent.

Which made them look like this!

and now my vanity looks like this.....

Don't judge...this needs a LOT of work.

Room Two ways!

So, I am posting a bit earlier than expected for "One Room 2 Ways" but I  couldn't resist and am beyond excited to have two fantastic bloggers that have participated in the series. I decided to do two of these in one week!  My first post is from the lovely Brandi from Flights of Whimsy! If you guys haven't seen her blog yet you must go take a gander cause she has some fab images and great ideas. PLUS she is awesome and rully rully nice.
I asked her to style something in two ways and she sent me these images of her vintage vanity that she scored from a flea market for 100 bucks.

Make sure you visit Brandi and tell her I said Hi!

The first version she called her "vintage look"

This was the "Glam and Colorful" look
