Collector of Sorts

So I have been collecting images and stalking my fave shelter mags for quite some time now and I have a pretty massive collection of various room pictures.. I have kitchens, and offices, and living rooms and dining rooms and vegetable gardens.. I even have dog houses for my imaginary dog... I seriously have it all. The problem is that I now have the opportunity to design my own home and I cannot get my crap together and pick a style. I know what I like day to day and it changes often, but I just don't know what I would like enough to live with.. This is my burden. Let me show you an example of how schizophrenic my design style is.

This week I want my house to look like this!

My head hurts...

Turquoise Tangerine Turkey Table Time

T- T- T- Turkey Time.. and this year its at the our house! So as you know we are pre-op on our houses looming face lift. I have lovingly been passed the Turkey Torch from my Mom's house to our house and I am very very thrilled/stressed. I love to host, don't get me wrong... but our house is pretty un-decorated to say the least. I know family doesn't matter and they will see past the forest green carpet and shiny chintz wallpaper, but none the less I am an interior perfection obsessed weirdo and my house is just silly.  I am a big fan of a wacky color combo so this year I am thinking my thanksgiving color scheme should be as distracting and eye catching as possible! Turquoise and Tangerine is what I came up with. I'll add a little bit of gold and pink tackiness, just to be sure no-one will look at the massive 70's lava rock fireplace!!!

OK not a table scape, but I am inspired by the pretty color combo none the less

Also I just found this website. It's the coolest. In the "Echo" section you can drag and drop colors to make your own custom designs.."Look what I can do Mom!!"

Chevron...not the gas station

Obsessed with this trend. I know it may seem like I am a bit late to the party, but I am not. I am just late blogging about it. I bought these custom made drapes from This Little Home on Etsy. Shereen is about as sweet as they come. I asked her for a custom length and width and to add blackout and she did it very fast and very well! I emailed her to ask if she could do other custom things including slip covers and cushions and she said YES. She is Fab so go check it out.. Just look at these drapes.

I know this photo is redundant but THE DRAPES...JUST LOOK AT THEM!!

 FUNKY TILED OR PAINTED FLOORS!!!

Peacock Chairs

So I recently scored some thrift store deals that blew my mind! 100 bucks for these gorgeous pair of wicker peacock chairs and a snazzy wicker egg chair for little G's room. That's right 3 chairs for $ 100 bucks I am torn on what to do with them..... Do I leave them the color that they are now or do I funk them up... ?

Here is what they look like now...

This is the egg style chair I put in G's room..
{ignore the carpet, don't ignore the Banksy hanging on my 14 month olds wall}

This is one of the pair I got....Insanely good deal!

Dream Exterior.....

Loving this exterior shot from remodelista. Jumping the gun a bit considering the exterior is waaaaaay away from us being able to afford what we want to do, but I LOVE THIS!

Floor Fiassco!

Ok So I am in floor sample hell. I HATE all flooring except everything I absolutely can't afford. I keep telling myself "to stop thinking so much like a designer and think more like every other person on the planet" and I just can't do it. I have had 2 floor companies come bid my house and one company are lovely and sooo easy to work with, and the other company is annoying and expensive. You would think the choice would be simple..........NOT AT ALL...
Lets just say the awesome company who are so easy to work with and extremely well priced have really crappy floors.

The other company who are not so nice or easy have AMAZING FLOORS I CANT AFFORD.

I have one more company to go meet with tomorrow. Hopefully this will be the answer and they will be the full package. Kiki has used them in her design Biz for 10 years and she swears that they are wonderful in every way. I trust her!

Ill keep you all posted.

Here are some of what I am going for floor wise/color and widths

These are the samples I have chosen so far....so different than what I want. Maybe I need to head back to the showroom?

Why is Gray spelled Gray and Grey?

I ask for two reasons...

1. Cause Kiki thought it would be a great blog topic (she was right)

2. Cause I am often spellchecking my outgoing emails and I get told "Gray" is "Grey" by my iPhone way to much... really chaps my hide.

To solve this conundrum I Googled...and basically my answer was this

" Grey and gray are both acceptable spellings of the word. "gray" is the American adaptation of "grey", kinda like "color" is the American adaptation of "colour".... Wow BORING but INFORMATIVE

Speaking of gray, over at KM Inc. We are doing a gray master bedroom which is gonna be amazing!
I'll post some photos of the "after" once we get there!

we gave our client two options: a "his" and "her" both with a gray color scheme

 "hers"

 "his"

"Compromise"

I think we were the most excited about the fact they are keeping the Wallpaper and the pendants we chose for them....

look how gorgeous-

I will keep you posted on the progress!

Bar Carts

As a Momma I know nothing can drive you to drink more than a screaming toddler and a house that sometimes feels like a traveling circus. I also know that despite my desire for "adult-friednly" things, those days are over temporarily. One of the things I really wish I could have is a Bar Cart. Toddler's and Bart Carts don't typically go together. G would destroy it . Now as a Momma I know I shouldn't own one because they are overwhelmingly unpractical... But as a designer however, I really, really want one.

So Kirsten @ KM Inc. (My boss at my "Job-Job" who I lovingly refer to as "Kiki") also believes I should own a bar cart. It seems whenever we are out hunting for clients or reading our shelter mags she will scope out a Bar Cart that she tells me I "MUST OWN".

I thought I would share with you some beauties I dream of and also what Kiki sent to my inbox this morning.
